Our Plaids are normally made of Lochcarron fabrics. If your kilt is made with another company's fabric, it may not match. If your kilt is not made of Lochcarron fabric, you must inform us WHICH mill produced your kilt fabric and what weight it is. We will contact them to obtain their fabric. There may be price changes involved and we cannot guarantee success in obtaining non-Locarron fabrics.
The Fly Plaid is the finishing touch to your kilt or kilted skirt and comea in the same weights and tartans. They are 40" x 40" of pure new wool woven in Scotland by the finest tartan weavers. Plaids are available with either purled ends or straight fringe ends. Lochcarron fabric.
Made to individual order, expect 4-6 weeks for delivery. 40" x 40" Available in 16 oz Strome, 13 oz Braeriach, or 10 oz Reiver weight fabrics.

The Mini Fly Plaid is a modern addition and is gaining popularity. It comes in Braeriach or Reiver pure worsted wool and measures 12 inches x 54 inches. We do not recommend it as a substitute for the traditional fly plaid. It has a similar look, but is not the same weight and doesn't have the same drape. Lochcarron fabric.

A large squarish fringed piece of tartan material that is draped over the left shoulder with a brooch at the front, attached at the waist in the rear and secured by buttoning a hidden loop to the epaulet button. Smaller than a full plaid and larger (longer) than a fly plaid. A full (piper's) plaid could interfere with drum harnesses and as such are sometimes not worn by drummers, though some bands require their drummers to wear a full plaid regardless. Also known as a "half plaid." The drummer's plaid is smaller and doesn't hang down in front of the left arm as the piper's does. 2 ¼ yards Lochcarron fabric.
